With the blessing of H.H. Pope Shenouda III, Saint Antonius Coptic Orthodox Church is planning the construction of a Coptic Youth Center (CYC). Our parish places great importance on the care and service of the children and youth.
While addressing their spiritual needs is our first priority, we also want to provide for their educational, social, and physical needs. Our goal is to provide an environment that promotes teamwork and mutual understanding to prepare them to become active members of society and upstanding citizens.
With this in mind, Saint Antonius Coptic Orthodox Church embarked upon this ambitious project. The building will be over 16,200 square feet with two levels. The lower level will house an industrial kitchen, an informational technology lab, multiple classrooms, a physical fitness room, and a multipurpose fellowship hall. The upper level will have a chapel and gymnasium that can host up to two hundred spectators. The project is expected to cost five million dollars. Funding will be through a loan of 2 million dollars from Chase Bank and the rest will be from congregation members and friends.
The parish has already acquired the necessary land, soil analysis, biological surveys, traffic studies, as well as meeting other County requirements. We have incorporated all these in the project’s architectural plans. We are schedule to complete construction in June 2013 and we are on schedule.
We ask you to please join us in praying these Psalms daily as we proceed with the CYC project: Psalm 19 (20), “May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble…” and Psalm 126 (127), “Unless the Lord builds the house…”
